Light Sabers
Gather Supply's
I got everything I needed from the local Dollar Tree. I highly recommend getting the duck tape and electrical tape from the dollar store. It's not true sticky tape and it is easy to work with and sticks great to the pool noodles!
1. Tape measure
2. Sharpie
3. Scissors
4. Knife
5. Duck tape
6. Electrical tape
7. Pool noodle
Measure the noodle and mark the middle. Now cut it in two.
Now cover one end with the duck tape. I did two high. I also left some room on the bottom for the electric tape.
Then cover the bottom with some electrical tape and do any design you choose and your done
R2D2 CUPS
R2D2 PROJECT
This one was a little hard and I just had to figure it all out on my own. This was the first thing we did once everyone arrived. Each one was able to make their own R2D2 to take home. It went really smooth and all the kids had a blast.
JEDI ROBES
I wish I would have actually taken pictures of the process of making these but I didn't. I can how ever tell you what I did and hope that if you want to make these for your own little one's party you are able to make them. I bought a flat sheet from the local Walmart in the darkest brown they had to offer.
- First cut off the top of the sheet, the part that you would put at the top of the bed.
- Then fold that in half hamburger style, keep the folded edge up to.
- Now fold it in thirds hot dog style.
- Next you want to cut the hotdog side of the fold, making sure not to cut your original hamburger fold. You should now have 3 hamburger folded pieces.
- Here is the tricky part I hope I can explain it right. Take one of your pieces keeping it folded hamburger style. Lay that flat and cut up the middle of what would be the front of the robe to where the neck will be.
- From there cut roughly 6inches from the top of the cut to create the neck line on either side of the cut you just made for the front of the robe. This is going to be the neck.
- Now I eyeballed this step. I folded over the front top of the neck line to create a triangle and cut that off.
Here you can see all the little Jedi's waiting for the training to began.
Now the FUN part......The day of the party and all of it coming together!!!
The day before the party I had a friend come over and we tackled the major part of the decorations. We covered the ceiling with balloons, streamers, and a happy birthday banner. IT WAS SO MUCH WORK!!!!
Our Front Door (the training camp) |
Now I also did the cupcakes the night before and the light sabers kinda lost their light over night but the kids could have cared less. They where more concerned about what color they where going to be getting.
DAY OF TRAINING
I had them walk the brick wall a few times to get the balance they would need in battle, jump in one hoop on the ground through another to the last one laying on the ground on the other side. Once we did that we lined up to learn how to properly use our light sabers.
All the Jedi's getting their lessons!
OH NO THE BAD GUY!!! GET HIM....I had to have them be able to use all that they learned.
Well there you have it the good, the bad, and the oh so many joys of parenthood. I hope you enjoyed reading about all the fun we had this year celebrating our sons 6th birthday and that you got some great ideas for your own child's party!
